Bahubali, Bajarangi Bhaijaan and Drishyam were
the three films released in succession, in the month of July. Amongst the three films, both Bahubali and Bajarangi Bhaijaan were films under big banner with a powerful star cast. Therefore,
they were expected to make good business, which they did.
Filmy pundits and experts must have predicted that a small budget film like Drishyam might
not be in the race with these two blockbusters running to full houses in theaters. However, the predictions of many turned out to be wrong after the release of Drishyam.
Drishyam was released at limited screens owing to the successful run of Bahubali
and Bajarangi Bhaijaan. Initially, the audiences were in favor of watching these two films instead of Drishyam. However, those who watched Drishyam had
nothing but praise for the film. With more and more mouth publicity going on, the film is attracting large number of crowds now. In fact, people prefer Drishyam over the other two films. The
film has raked in 34.08 crores in the first four days, which is not bad at all, considering it’s not so ensemble cast, and lack of hype before its release.
The factors going in favor of this movie are veteran actors like Ajay Devgn and Tabu and
their onscreen chemistry. Strong storyline and a gripping climax can be called as the USP of the film.
Drishyam has been blessed with a very talented director Nishikant Kamat, who has directed
films like Mumbai Meri Jaan earlier. It has also got more critical acclaim than Bahubali and Bajarangi Bhaijaan. One more factor is, it is a remake of the south Indian film by the same name
which is a hit formula these days. The south Indian version was also a super hit in the territory.
