PM Narendra Modi Addresses ASEAN Summit In Malaysia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived today in the Malaysian for two key regional summits and bilateral talks. The visit is aimed at boosting cooperation in areas as diverse as security and investment for big-ticket infrastructure projects.
Malaysia has tightened the security for the visit after a leaked police memo warned 10 suicide bombers had entered Kuala Lumpur ahead of the 13th ASEAN-India Summit to be held on Saturday and the East Asia Summit to be held on Sunday. About 4,500 security personnel have been positioned and are on standby in the city.
Modi arrived at the Kuala Lampur International Airport in his special aircraft before dawn 4.15 am IST and was received by the High Commissioner T S Tirumurti. Modi who is active on Twitter tweeted that he had arrived in the capital for the summit and also to have a one-to-one meetings.
Speaking at the ASEAN-India summit PM Modi said that Kuala Lampur is the symbol of promising future of the region.
PM Modi highlighted the following points at the summit:
1. The PM said that India is the fastest growing major economy of the world with its growth rate touching 7.5% and it is expected to go higher.
2. The country now has an open and welcoming environment and we will continue this with utter boldness and speed.
3. He proposed to commit a line of credit of $1 billion for important projects in ASEAN.
4. As the trade and investment will grow as economy grows the country will also intend to set up an ASEAN-India innovation platform.
5. He acknowledged that terrorism has emerged today as a major global challenge.
6. The countries should handle territorial disputes peacefully.
7. The 1st ASEAN-India Cyber Security Conference hosted in Jan 2015 should be the start for greater cooperation from the countries.
8. He also welcomed the  ASEAN countries to join the International Solar Partnership in London during environment speaks.
9. He added that we meet at a duration of multiple global difficulties. In this difficult time, India and ASEAN are shiny spots of positive outlook.
10. Connection is a process to distributed success.
11. ASEAN will strengthen success for our people.
12. Kuala Lumpur is the icon of the region’s appealing future.
